Cultural Center plans combined festival

Due to an overwhelming response to requests for participants for the second Annual HolidayFest in November, and a small response for crafts, art, antiques and collectibles for the October 7 HarvestFest, the executive committee at the Erie Canal Cultural Center will combine the events.

HolidayFest weekend is November 18 and 19, with Saturday hours from 10 to 6 and Sunday hours from 1 to 5. This event includes a display of holiday trees decorated by not-for-profits, historic and community groups, along with trees designed and decorated by creative local country stores.

This year the Center will host a display of model trains as well, along with the Ripples exhibition of student writing and art. Other art displays and demonstrations will be available throughout the weekend.

Crafters, collectors and artists may reserve a 10 x 10 foot sales area for $20 for the two days by contacting the Erie Canal Cultural Center offices at 946.0360 or fax 946.0368 for a registration form; or by e-mailing the director, Peg Churchill, at Dhpeg@aol.com

The Erie Canal Cultural Center is located at 165 Water Street on the Erie Canal in the historic Village of Lyons.

Autumn hours will resume following the installation of Ripples in early October. Regular office and exhibition hours are 10 until 6 on Wednesday and 1-5 p.m. on Fridays; or by appointment.
