October 14 is the Turkey Dinner at Macedon Center United Methodist Church- Rt. 31F. Dinner is served family style from 4-7. Take-outs available. 986-2306.

Loretta DeFisher is recuperating after suffering a broken leg.

Peg Pembroke has returned to her Newark Road home.

Rumor has it that there are new bleachers in the Marion High School gymnasium.

Member of the Marion Class of 1944 had an impromptu get-together at Burnham's Canalside Inn, in Newark, on Sept. 28. The group of 15 spent the afternoon together talking over old times and new experiences. The couple traveling the farthest to attend were Dick and Gloria Witter from Aiken, South Carolina, who are visiting with family members and friends in the Marion area.

Members of the Palmyra OES are planning a roast beef dinner, October 15 (Sunday) from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Palmyra Masonic Temple. Presale tickets are $6 and will be $7 at the door. $3.50 for those under 12 years and take-outs available. Get tickets from any member or call Lyman Kaller at 597.4907.

Proud parents, Jason and Jenny Cantwell announce the birth of Alex Jordon on September 13. Happy grandparents are Joyce Cantwell of Marion and Gene and Debbie Sherman of Williamson. Alex was welcomed home by his big brother, Adam Joel.

OCTOBER 16, 1941: Marion Fruit and Vegetable Show in the gym on Friday drew a crowd of 125 people. Prizes were awarded 62 of the 150 exhibits, made possible by Marion merchants.

The Get out the Vote Sauerkraut Dinner is planned on Nov. 7 (ELECTION DAY) at the Elementary School from 5-7:30 p.m. Adults $5.50 Children K-5 $3; Family $20. Proceeds go the DR. BOVET SCHOLARSHIP FUND. This event started by Rotary over 30 years ago to encourage voters to come out and do their civic duty and come together for an enjoyable social gathering. COME VOTE.

Announcements have gone out to all Marion organizations and businesses to include them in the Marion Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 21. Hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be demonstrations of traditional crafts, at the Marion Museum, beginning with stenciling by Diane Van Lare at 9 AM. Following will be Suzanne Barber at 10 with basketry and quilting at 11 with Barb DeWandel. Hilda DeLue will be around to show you the intricacies of crocheting and others will demonstrate knitting and the delicate art of hardingar. Along with the crafts there will be the delicious aroma of Ina Benton's recipe for Apple Butter. Samples will be given to those who can't resist the temptation. Town Historian, Carolyn Adriaansen will be creating recipes for Simple Soap and you will be welcome to take home a sample. At the Festival, Boy Scouts will serve up delicious Fried Dough and the Girl Scouts will be selling their popular Girl Scout Cookies.

Henry and Pearl Ververs of the Marion Road had friends visiting from Texas. They took them to Vermont to visit Texas Falls and the Proctor Covered Bridge, Cooley covered bridge near Pittsford, Lincoln covered bridge at West Woodstock, and a beautiful gorge. They visited Francovia Notch and Old Man of the Mountain, and Clark's Trading Post at Lincoln, NH. Returned home through the Adirondacks - Saranac Lake and Tupper Lake. Foliage was beautiful!
