Williamson Scouts raise $$ for 'friend in need' On Saturday, September 30, about 150 Williamson Girl Scouts (ages 5 years to adult) coordinated a Car Wash / Bottle Drive for Mark Wright, owner of Townline Plumbing. Mark is the stepfather of Katie Cook, who has been a member of Williamson Girl Scout Troop #247 for the past five years. Mark, along with his wife Amy (Johnson), has been supportive of the troop and girl scouting. They have helped in many ways, from car pooling to acting as Cookie Parents. When Mark was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, the Girl Scouts decided it was their turn to help a friend in need. With the coordination of many adults, places were secured, troops were assigned times, equipment was gathered and advertisements were placed to let the community know what was planned. Two days before the event was to take place, Jim Harding's Farm donated mums for the Girl Scouts to sell, with the proceeds to go to the Mark Wright Day Fund. September 30 will be a day in Williamson that many will remember for a long time. With the overwhelming support of the community, the Girl Scouts were able to raise over $4,000 that day.
