Seniors invited to Williamson Library

Who hasn't had one of those embarrassing moments when the mind goes blank and a well-known name or phone number just disappears from memory? But, now the term 'Senior Moment' will have a positive meaning, too. It is the name of an ongoing series at the Williamson Public Library for seniors aged 55 and over.

The kick-off event will be 'School Days ...or Daze?' on October 26 from 10:30 to 11:30. Anyone 55 or over is invited to come for coffee and a chance to browse through old yearbooks and other memorabilia from school days gone by.

'Senior Moments' are not formalized programs, but rather a relaxed time to chat and reminisce and are part of an effort to preserve the past for the next generation. There will be no speaker or presentation. The library has yearbooks from 1925 and they will be available for everyone to leaf through and chuckle over.

Guests are welcome to share memories with each other of school friends, teachers, a special school event or whatever comes to mind - and to bring photographs or any school memorabilia along to share if they wish.

'Memory Minder' sheets will be available if anyone wants to jot down memories of a special time. There will also be a personal tape recorder ready for those who might like to speak to the younger generation about school days of the past.
