Costume contest in Lyons It's not too late to put together an imaginative outfit for the Lyons Farmers Market's Second Annual Halloween Costume Contest. Children and adults are invited to come to the Village Park on Saturday, Oct. 28 in their handmade costumes between 9:30 and 10 a.m. The audience will vote on their top three favorites in each age category. Please do not use commercially-made costumes. Cash prizes will be awarded. Prizes of $25, $15 and $10 will be awarded for each of the kids' and adult categories (six prizes total.) The Lyons Farmers' Market held its Scarecrow Contest on October 7. Winners in the children's category were: 1st place - Willie Clark of Newark; 2nd and 3rd place - Emily Stoep and Johanna Stoep of Lyons and 4th place - Edward Facer of Newark. There were no adult entries.
