Red Suspenders buys CHIPS in Sodus

The family-owned Internet Service Provider in Wayne County, Red Suspenders, has purchased the Sodus computer store, CHIPS.

Company president Dennis Powell said Alara Powell, the customer service manager of the Newark-based company, will run the Sodus branch of Red Suspenders.

Former owner and manager of the Sodus store, Dave Riddervold, said the sale was a result of his desire for more free time and to be semi-retired. He will, however, remain at the store part-time, concentrating on service and upgrades of customers' computers.

'It is the best of both worlds for customers,' said the elder Powell. 'There will be a familiar face, and services have been added to better serve customers in the northern part of Wayne County.'

Powell said the Sodus store will be offering such new services as:

Dial-Up Local Internet access; instructor-led classroom training; expanded product lines, soon to include Apple Macintosh; on-site computer upgrades and repair; in-store Internet tech support.

Red Suspenders was founded in 1994 and was the first Internet service provider in Wayne County. For more information about Red Suspenders, visit the Web site at www.redsuspenders.com or contact Powell at 331.0820.
