R.S. 'Bob' Bloomer & Chris Davis Bloomer donates historic document
By John Zornow

While on a visit to Newark recently, Robert S. Bloomer of Charlotte, North Carolina presented the Arcadia Historical Society with the original 1903 incorporation certificate for the Bloomer Bros. Paper Co.

Bloomer is the grandson of Robert Anson Sherman Bloomer, who, with his brothers C.T. and H.A.S Bloomer, purchased the company in 1898 from S.F. Sherman. He managed plants for the Reigel Paper Co. and Rexham Corp. after the Bloomer Bros. Co. was sold to them in 1960. Bloomer is a graduate of Hamilton College and active in the college's alumni activities. He maintains a summer home on Sodus Bay.

Pictured is R.S. 'Bob' Bloomer presenting the certificate to Chris Davis, President of the Arcadia Historical Society. The certificate will be mounted in the Arcadia Historical Society Museum above an old Bloomer Bros. printer's cabinet donated by Karl DeMay.

In the early 1900's automobiles, dump box wagons, canned goods, wheels, paper egg boxes, tinware, flour, cigars and cigar boxes, butter crates, cream separators, interior woodwork, mince meat, cut glass, bricks, cement blocks, extracts, slicers, brandy, vinegar, and cider were all manufactured in Newark.
