Costume winners at Lyons market

The Lyons Farmers' Market concluded its 26th season on Saturday, with a Halloween Costume Contest. About 25 children and a dozen adults appeared at the Market in their Halloween finery.

Adult winners:

1st Place - Lorraine Wagner, witch, from Lyons;

2nd Place - Janet Ransley, hobo, from Lock Berlin;

3rd Place - Jenny Bonnell, scarecrow, from Lyons.

Children's winners:

1st Place - Justin Griffin, snowman, from Lyons;

2nd Place - Jon Ross Gansz, farmer on a John Deere tractor, from Lyons;

3rd Place - Anthony Mangieri, elephant, from Williamson.

Special thanks go to all the participants in the Scarecrow and Halloween contests, the Master Gardeners of Wayne County for sharing information, Stephanie Cooper and Lorna Wilson of the Humane Sociey of Wayne County for bringing adoptable pets and setting up an information booth, Wayne 4-H Teen Exchange for bringing a mini-petting zoo, folk singer Tom Sieling, the band For Goodness Sake, musicians Hugh Mater and Pete Bump, mayor and chef John Salone for a cooking demo, the Lyons Rotary Club for their pancake breakfasts, Lyons United Methodist Church and Eastern Stars for their bake sales, and Lyons librarian Theresa Streb for story hour in the park.
