Mexican Fiesta planned in Sodus

Mexican culture comes alive on September 17, at the annual Mexican Fiesta in Sodus. The fiesta begins at 3 p.m. at the Sodus Primary School, Rt. 88, Sodus.

Dance to Latin music, and see local dance troupe Horizantes de Esperanza. Corazon Mexicano of Brockport will perform traditional Mexican folkdances and there will be authentic Mexican food for sale from Maria's Mexican Restaurant in Webster.

Children will be able to swing at pinatas filled with candy and an all-day soccer tournament will take place on the school fields. Also, giant puppets from Oaxaca will make a rare appearance, courtesy of Antonio Cruz of Brockport. The traditional Queen Contest will take place and raffles will be held.

The Mexican Fiesta sponsored by the Wayne County Multicultural Arts Program is a show of thanks and support to local farmworkers. Admission is FREE.
