War years exhibit at county museum

The Wayne County Historical Society will bring the 'war years' to view in the new exhibit, Wayne at War: World War II Revisited, to run September 29 through January 31 at the WCHS Society Museum in Lyons.

A reception, marking the opening of the exhibit, will be held on September 29 from 6-9 p.m. Photographs, posters, uniforms, guns, and other war-time memorabilia will fill the the Thomas Rotating Exhibit Room and rest of the Museum

While songs, performed by the Ink Spots, Andrew Sisters, and Tommy Dorsey play, visitors will be able to follow a timeline of the war by viewing copies of newspaper headlines (circa 1941-45) that wind along the walls of the museum, or watch a video of World War II newsreels that will be shown in the meeting room. Jelly rolls (made without sugar or shortening), Wartime Cake (eggless, milkless, and butterless), and ice tea (no coffee) will be served.

There will be a drawing for the door prize, a basket filled with products that were rationed during the war years. Call 946.4943.
