'We plant trees to benefit another generation.' Nicholas David Eggleston was born on August 9, to Jamie and Laura (VanLare) Eggleston at Bellvue Woman's Hospital in Schenectady. Nicky weighed in at 7 lb. 15 oz. and was 20 inches long. Proud grandparents are Jim and Barb Eggleston of Schenectady, Dave and Diane Van Lare of Marion, and great-grandfather, Harold Walters of Marion. Nicky's pictures can be seen at the Leaning Barn. An event you might like to include on your schedule for the Harvest Festival on October 21 is a stop at the Marion museum. Stroll around the museum rooms, ending at the big room next door, where traditional crafts will be shown. 'See You at the Pole' will be held at Shoeshine Johnnies in Sodus this evening. September 20 at 7 a.m. is when all schools will meet at their flag poles for prayer for this year's See You at the Pole. September 16 is the 11th annual Pultneyville Community garage sale. Centennial Park. Flea market, variety of baked goods/foods. Pie sale at the Pultneyville Historical Society Home. September 16 and 17 are Palmyra Canaltown Days. Car show and parade on Saturday. Get your raffle ticket on the 1998 Historic Marion Coverlet being offered by the Marion Historic Association during the Harvest Festival. The drawing will take place at the Holiday 'open house' at the Marion Museum on December 2. SEPTEMBER 13, 1934: The faculty of Marion Consolidated School with the members of the Board of Education as guests of the faculty enjoyed a picnic at Crescent Beach, Pultneyville on Thursday. Girls volleyball team lost to Clyde-Savannah. Blocks and kills by Tina Green and Becky Plyter. Aces were made by Plyter and Casey Edelman. Marion tennis team lost 4-1 at Lyons. The soccer girls lost to Newark 2-1. Kari Miller scored for Marion. The boys soccer team tied Sodus 2-2 in the second overtime. Copyright
