Williamson group plans trip to Holy Land

The United Methodist Church of Williamson is planning a tour of the Holy Land.

The church is hosting a 10-day tour and mission trip to Israel in February 2001. This pilgrimage to the Holy Land shall be led by Pastor Homan, who has previously traveled and taught in Israel. The purpose of the tour is to bring the Bible to life for those who have only read and studied the stories of their faith. Biblical sights will be seen, as the Scriptures are studied daily.

The entourage shall visit Capernaum, the home of Peter, and worship aboard a boat on the Sea of Galilee. They'll share communion where Jesus multiplied the loaves and fishes; renew vows of baptism in the river Jordan; walk the Garden of Gethsemane, visit Golgatha - known as the place of the skull where Christ was crucified; and visit the Garden Tomb from which many believed Jesus was resurrected.

The tour is scheduled for Monday, February 19 - Wednesday, February 28, with arrangements coordinated through Journeys Unlimited of New York. The trip costs $1748 including airfare, hotels, sight fees, and meals. Room is still available before the November 20 deadline.
