Make nominations for Newark Citizens of the Year

The Greater Newark Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for Citizen of the Year for Community Service, Citizen of the Year for Education, and/or Organization of the Year.

You are asked to submit a letter explaining why you feel the nominee has contributed to the community's betterment. Letters need to go to the Chamber of Commerce, 203 West Miller St., Newark or e-mail to newarkcc@redsuspenders.com or fax to 331.2705.

These awards will be presented at the Chamber's Annual Dinner, scheduled for October 24 at Burnham's Canalside Inn.

Part of the criteria for each of the awards is an ongoing commitment and involvement in the community of Newark, beyond employment.

This year's guest speaker will be Diann Roffe-Steinrotter, a Williamson native and champion skier. She will speak about her experiences as an Olympic Gold Medalist and the challenges of starting her own business. She and her husband now live in Arcadia.

The dinner is open to the public and is a great time to hear about the Chamber, meet and greet your fellow business people. Businesses can set up informational displays around the room.

More information and details about the dinner are available from the Chamber office by calling 331.2705.
