Church School at the United Church, will begin with RALLY DAY on September 24. The theme will be 'Come, Be Fishers of Men.' Registration: 11-11:30 in the Margaret Curtis Fellowship Hall; 11:30 - crafts in classrooms; noon - hot dog lunch in Fellowship Hall. Everyone is most welcome. Following lunch, there will be games, songs, prizes and grades 5-12 will be going on a scavenger hunt for contributions for the Marion Food Pantry. 'A man knows his wife can be trusted when she serves him the pancake burned side up.' Family Night Roller Skating Party, sponsored by the Marion PTA, will be held on Friday, September 22 in the Elementary School gym. 7-8:30 p.m. Esther Haskins of California is spending time with her brother, Budd and Ruth Haskins of Union Street. She is visiting with other family members and friends. The Marion American Legion will be holding a Gun Raffle on September 30 at the Legion Home on Witherden Road. Rog and Gen Adriaansen have returned from a trip to New Hampshire where they visited with their friend, Ann Renzi, in Dover. Time was spent visiting folks and attending the local flea markets. The United Church will be holding a pig roast on Saturday, September 30. Pastor Tim Bantle is recuperating from recent surgery. Jeff Kelley, son of Eric; and Sandy Kelley is presently in Ireland where he is studying at the University. Ralph Meluney was welcomed at the United Church as guest organist on September 17. Ontario Heritage Day at Heritage Square. Crafters, food, entertainment. Historical Buildings open. Brick Church Road and Ontario Center Rd., September 23. September 30 to October 9: Fall Family Fun at Long Acre Farms, 1342 Eddy Rd. Macedon. Hayrides, mazes, pumpkin land, animals and much more. Weekends only. SEPTEMBER 20, 1934: The Marion school opened with 95 in the high school, 93 in the junior high and 237 in the grades and 37 in the rural districts. Sports Notes: The varsity boys soccer team lost to North Rose-Wolcott. Dundee defeated the volleyball on September 12. The girls varsity volleyball team defeated Sodus on September 13. Becky Plyter had one kill and two blocks, Jenny Bove scored 11 points, Casey Edelman's 12 points, and Karissa DePoint had two kills, 11 points. The volleyball team lost to Lyons. Tina Gruen had two blocks and two kills. Tennis team lost to East Rochester 5-0. In varsity tennis action on September 11: Singles players Carrie Phillips, Stephanie Graham and Alina Nadir, as well as doubles players Suzanne Boise, Emily Fessler, Robin Reyome and Stephany Clark were winners in a 5-0 victory at Sodus. Their record is now 1-1.
