Rachel Haskins Drave enjoyed spending time recently with her sister, Esther Haskins, who was visiting from Carmel, California.

Stan and Isabelle Bushart have returned from a trip to El Paso, Texas, where they visited their son, the Rev. Kevin Bushart and family. It was a pleasure to hear their son preach and conduct services. They enjoyed three ball games and took several rides over the Franklin mountain, which separates the city of El Paso. They went on the scenic drive at night to see the lights of the city from mountain heights. They celebrated with granddaughter Hannah, who had her sixth birthday on Sept. 9. The following week they spent a few days with Isabelle's two sisters and friends at the Peck Lake cottage of her sister, Ann Brandon and husband, David. They had a nice reunion with their sister, Norma Marsh, who lives in Hawaii.

More news about the upcoming Marion Harvest Festival scheduled for October 21: Marion Girl Scout Troop members will be selling those delicious Girl Scout cookies, and the ladies of the United Church will be selling an array of wonderful baked goods. What could be better?

Along with the traditional crafts in the former courtroom, there will be the aroma of Ina Benton's recipe for Apple Butter. Samples will be given to those who can't resist the temptation. I, Town Historian, will be creating recipes for Simple Soap and you will be welcome to take home a sample. Choose from rose/rosemary or the citrus, or maybe the coffee.

Marion's Firemen are holding their annual Auction on Saturday, October 7.

The East Palmyra Community Auction is going to be on September 30.

The Marion Legion Post will be holding their Family Style Roast Beef Supper on October 13.

'If you want your dreams to come true, don't oversleep.'

The annual Pig Roast at the United Church of Marion will be September 30, starting at 4:30 p.m. Adults $5.50, Seniors $5 and Children $3.50. Proceeds of this project wall benefit the needy.

Murriel De Reu is at home following surgery.

George Reiss is recovering from knee surgery.

Bill and Barb DeWandel returned from a glorious trip to the Pacific Northwest. Traveling through the states of Washington, Idaho, Montana, Alberta and British Columbia in Canada, they encountered beautiful scenery and saw snow-capped mountains. At Glacier National Park, they went on the Ice Fields in a snow coach and rafted on the Fraser River. At Vancouver Island they visited the beautiful Butchart Gardens.

Young folks are welcome to come to the FIFTH QUARTER which will be held at the Second Reformed Church Educational Building this evening, 9 until 11:30, following the Sodus/Marion Soccer game. Kids in grades 7 to 12 are welcome! This event is sponsored by the Refuge Youth Group.

Kelly Fisher underwent surgery last Wednesday.

Katy Shaff invites her friends to the Buddy Walk at noon on Sunday, October 1 at North Ponds Park, Webster. This event is not a fundraiser but is a walk to show support for individuals with Down Syndrome.

Remember the Gun Raffle at the Marion Legion Post Home on Witherden Road tomorrow.

Ken Dykhuisen is recuperating following eye surgery.

October 6 - Marion High School Homecoming. Marion Yearbook Club Chicken BBQ starts at 4:15 until sold out; price is $6.50; there will also be a , Homecoming Dance, and the German Club is having a Pie Sale.

Clark and Helen Dingman of Cory Hill Road celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with children and grandchildren at South Padre Island, Texas from September 14-17. They were joined by Stephen Dingman of San Antonio, Patricia Dingman Ellis of Austin, Randy Ellis of Austin, Mark Dingman of Penfield and Paul Dingman of Rochester, and three Ellis grandchildren - Tarra, McKenzie and Devon.

Savannah Potato Fest is October 6-8; arts and crafts, tractor pull, potato wrestling, potato cooking contest, and a car show.

Shirley Murphy is recuperating following knee surgery.

The new Student Council officers are President Angie Johnson, Vice President Christa Rich, Secretary Liz Boerman, Treasurer Michelle Wilson.

SEPTEMBER 25, 1924: The faculty and pupils of Marion High School held a roast at Smith's Pond, Tuesday evening. The Seniors acted as cooks, the Juniors furnished conveyances and utensils, the Sophomores furnished entertainment, and the Freshmen built fire and cleaned up.
