Newark concerned with condition of park
no parking

There is a groundswell of discontent over the condition of Newark's Perkins Park.

With many worried that the green space is endangered, Mayor Peter Blandino has scheduled an informational meeting for April 30 at 7 p.m. in the second-floor courtroom above the police station. Blandino wants to talk about protecting and improving the park.

The park is between two school properties. Overcrowding at the Miller Street school led a few years ago to the district's asking for and receiving permission to unload buses in the park. Needs of staff have increased, leading to all-day parking in the park. All this has led to damage to park roads and grassy areas.

this picture speaks for itself! Construction for Newark School District has worsened matters, with equipment and increased traffic. And although there are promises of a clean-up, Newark citizens are not taking any chances.
