Crop Walk in Sodus

learn more? Every year Sodus participates in an annual Cropwalk. In fact, this year we celebrate 15 years as a Cropwalk community, rasing a total of $48,173.20 through those walks.

One major way we raise money is a walkathon, a Cropwalk. This is a community-sponsored event. Typically, the churches help organize but it is intended for all people to get involved. Recruiters find walkers, walkers get sponsors, a 5-mile walk is held and all the money raised is shared with the various programs of help.

This year's Crop Walk is Sunday, May 6 at 1:30 p.m.

Our community receives 25% back of the money raised and we select sites where that money can best help. Home Meals, Wayne County Rural Ministries, Sodus Point Food Pantry, and other local organizations have all benefited in the past.

You can get involved this year. Consider doing the walk. Sponsor sheets are available from the local churches. Call Bill Mann 483.9718 or see one of our recruiters. If you don't walk you can still pledge. As walkers go from door to door seeking sponsors, give generously. Last year our community raised $2,858, yet 1990, '92, and '93 all saw totals of over $5,000.
