Children's Art Exhibit in Lyons

learn more about itThe First Presbyterian Church of Lyons will host a Presbyterian Children's Art Exhibit in May. The exhibit is one of five on tour nationwide for two years.

More than 1800 children submitted pencil sketches, crayon drawings and watercolors to be considered for the exhibit and the final selection was made by 15 pastors and elders from across the country. 145 pieces of art were selected and divided between five traveling exhibits: one large exhibit of 45 pieces and four smaller 'suitcase' exhibits of 25 pieces each.

The exhibits include paintings of Bible stories and illustrations of church life. The traveling art by children celebrates the 'Year of the Child.' The theme of the exhibit is, 'Whoever welcomes this child, welcomes me.' The traveling exhibits are being coordinated by the PCUSA in Louisville.

The children's art exhibit will be on display in May, Monday- Friday from 10 to 2 and Sunday following the 10 a.m. worship service. There is no charge to view the art exhibit.

The First Presbyterian Church of Lyons located at the corner of Queen and Broad Streets is handicapped accessible. For more info, call Cynthia Huling Hummel at 946.4723.
