Lyons Library gets new computers

The Lyons Public Library is celebrating the arrival of new computers for public use.

With a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the library has purchased five new Gateway computers, a new Hewlett Packard laser printer, and more than 20 computer programs.

The public is invited to an open house on Monday, April 30, from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served and a Gates Foundation trainer, as well as library staff, will be on hand to answer questions and demonstrate how to use the computers.

The Lyons Public Library is located at 67 Canal Street (corner of Phelps and Canal).

The new computers add to the library's growing infrastructure, which includes a computerized card catalog and circulation system, and full time Internet access. The library plans on offering various computer classes several times a year.

The library will be closed during the day on April 30 and May 1 for installation of the new computers and staff training. However, the library will be open during the open house and both nights from 7-9 p.m.

For more information, please call the library at 946.9262.
