Poker Run raises money for school

50 people participated in the July 29 Poker Run, raising $500 for desks.

Prize money ($75) for the best hand was won by Shelly Coia, with a full house.

2nd prize was won by Susan Leisenring. She had a Straight, and her prize was a Harley Davidson shirt from Harv's Harley Davidson, Macedon and a $10 gas card from Farrell's Mobil Station in Newark. 3rd prize was won by Steve Sapp. He had three 8's. He received a Harley Davidson shirt and a one-day membership to B.J.'s warehouse. Lots of other door prizes were given away. A 50/50 raffle was won by Anne Bullock ($48).

A spaghetti dinner was held at the Blue Ribbon Smokehouse in Phelps. Everyone had a wonderful ride on a beautiful day.

Organizers of the Poker Run were Cecile and Chick Ruffalo and Mrs. Kathy Peters, St. Michael's principal. (Peters went on the second-of-her-life ride, on the back of Chick Ruffalo's motorcycle.

The run was 97.9 miles around Wayne County, traveling to Sodus Point, Williamson, Ontario, Gananda, Walworth, Pultneyville, Palmyra, Macedon, Newark, Lyons and ending in Phelps.

Everyone participating received a door prize ticket, a free coupon for one ice cream cone at Bee Tees Drive-In on Rt. 31 Newark, and a water bottle donated by David and Kathy Wind of Marion.
