Outhouse calendar available

Andrea Evangelist, the Executive Director of the Wayne County Historical Society, said copies of the calendar, 'Hot Potties of Wayne County,' are available now in the Museum gift shop in Lyons.

Each page of this 15-month calendar (October 2001-December 2002) contains a color photograph of one of the unique outhouses in Wayne County, and outhouse trivia. A preview of this calendar may be seen on the Society's outhouse website.

Calendars are being sold for $12. The profits from calendar sales will be used to fund Society programming and the inventory project.

Copies of 'Hot Potties' will also be available for purchase from some area historical societies and town historians. A portion of the profits from those sales will aid the members of that historical society or historian in the mission of promoting local history. Participating are: Town of Lyons Historian Carol Bailey, Town of Palmyra Historian Beth Hoad, Town of Savannah Historian John Spellman, Arcadia Historical Society, Pultneyville Historical Society, Rose Historical Society and the Walworth Historical Society.

After August 6, calendars will be available for sale at all offices of David D. Bradley Insurance Agency (Lyons, Newark, Seneca Falls, Sodus, Wolcott), Dobbins Drug Store in Lyons, The Garlock House in Palmyra, Marion Pharmacy, North Rose Midstate, and at Ontario Country Gifts. Calendars will also be sold at the Historical Society booth at the County Fair in Palmyra.

To order calendars, call 946.4943, Monday-Friday, 10-noon and 12:30-4 p.m.
