The Fiesta de Bienvenido will be Sunday, August 5 from 1-5 p.m. at the Education Building at the Second Reformed Church. Everybody is invited to attend the 'Welcoming Fiesta' for the Puerto Ricans who are here for the season. Plan to eat at 1 p.m. Please bring a non-green salad or a dessert. Music and entertainment will follow. Come and meet these men and let's give them a wonderful Marion welcome. Kyle Haak presented the Ministry of Music at the morning worship service at the Second /Reformed Church on July 29. Ethel Stone is recuperating from recent carpal tunnel surgery. Pearl and Henry Ververs of the Marion Road, entertained 18 relatives on Sunday, visiting with their cousin, Neva Henderson and her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Tom Hurd from San Diego. I have just returned from a Triennial Conference of Women of the Reformed Church, held in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. There will be a DAYCARE REUNION/RETIREMENT PARTY for anyone who attended or was a helper at Barb Wilson's or Valerie Barker's daycare. The reunion will be held at the Marion Town Park on Saturday, August 4 from 1-4. Please come and visit with old friends! Harold Walters attended his 72nd High School Class Reunion on July 26th at the Country Club in Newark. His daughter is Diane Van Lare of the Leaning Barn. Of 10 living members, five were in attendance: Evelyn Parker Rayfield of Phelps, Lavern Smith of Newark, Ina Austin Benton of Fairville, Lela Howell Adamy of Hannibal, and Harold Walters. 'Today remember that with only one stroke, a minus (-) can be turned into a plus (+).' Happy 55th Wedding Anniversary Wishes to Howard and Caroline Bushart on August 3, from family and friends. Rod and Helen hosted the Adriaansen Reunion at their home on July 29. Swimming, eating and conversation covered the hours of the afternoon and early evening. AUGUST 6, 1931: The opening of the Mary Ann Tea Room, owned by John Howell, was postponed from Friday to Wednesday because of the breakdown in the new soda fountain. September 22 is fast approaching, and so is the MARION HERITAGE FESTIVAL! The present committee is aiming to hold an event more like the ones held in the 1970's and 1980's, with Marion folks doing the entertaining and demonstrating.
