Missing Sodus
By Melissa White

My daughter and I were out and about in Wayne County this week and finally saw our first Horse on Parade in Williamson at the car dealership. It's really neat to see them up close...so much talent! We stopped in to surprise Janet Leschhorn at work but, of course, the surprise was on us - she had the day off. We dropped off some cookies for Al Dobbin and Lill Burkholder (just in case they're wondering who left the peanut butter cookies on the mailbox). It was nice to see everyone again. It was tempting to take a bunch of new books from the shelf in the children's section of the Williamson Library... brought back many memories.

There's a blood drive in Sodus Saturday at the Methodist Church on Main Street from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The drive is being sponsored by the Sodus Rotary Club. There's an urgent need for blood this summer, so please give if you can.

horse Also on Saturday, there's a Dog Daze celebration at the Cracker Box Palace in Alton. There's a doggie walk-a-thon, a dog show, and dog team demonstrations. If you'd like more information, you can e-mail CrackerBPalace@aol.com

The concert at the Lighthouse this Sunday will be the music of the 40s, 50s, and 60s. Join Bob Ames and Co. for a fun afternoon at 3 p.m. Music for everyone.

Try not to miss Gary the Happy Pirate at the Williamson Library Wednesday (Aug. 8). Tickets will be available that day at 10 a.m. and they will be given to only the first 150 who come, so don't be late!

Next Saturday (Aug. 11), the Sodus Point Community Association will hold its 2nd Annual Farmers' Market at Willow Park.

Be Sure to mark your calendars for 'Horsing' Around with Heluva Good. The Heluva Good Country Store will be the host site for the High Falls Brewing Company's traveling horse 'Ontario' on August 21 and 22. There will be a wide array of events. Look for local wineries from 1 to 5 on August 22. Joining them will be area growers with samples of their local crops. Joe Price will have his Heluva flowers Good sponsored NASCAR on display, along with Dr. Kaempffe's three Heluva Good vehicles. Please call the store with any questions at 1.800.445.0269
