Singers wanted: chorale rehearsals to begin
The first concert for the year will be the Christmas concert scheduled for December 8 and 9, which will include traditional Christmas Carols and works by Buxtehude, Palestrina and Mendelssohn. The Chorale will be working with music director, Gregg S. Christiansen, beginning his third year as director. Richard Crooks will be the group's accompanist for the coming season. The Canaltown Chorale was established in 1980. There are 30-40 members coming from the Wayne, Ontario and Monroe county area. The Chorale performs three concerts per year. These include a Christmas concert, a major works concert in March and a Pops concert in June. There are no auditions required but some choral experience is helpful. Tenors and basses are especially needed. Anyone interested in joining the Chorale may attend the September 4 rehearsal. For more information about the chorale or rehearsals call Elaine Shaner at 716.289.8669.
