Missing Sodus
By Melissa White

Hard to believe that September is right around the corner. Where did the summer go? (The kids are probably wondering the same thing. 'School, again?!') I know a lot of Moms look forward to the big day.

Happy September birthdays to Patty Clark on Sept. 1 and Lelah Rought, who will be turning the big 16 on Sept. 2. (Remember: you're as young as you feel and as old as you can remember.)

There's a benefit Saturday for Vinnie Cinelli, who is battling cancer. The concert will feature several bands and will be from noon to 10 p.m. at the Ontario Firemen's Field. You can find out more at this website:

If you haven't been to any of the concerts at the Sodus Point Lighthouse, you still have time for one more. Vic Plati and his Orchestra will be playing the traditional and contemporary big band music this Sunday at 3 p.m.

The Kraft Shack will be holding the l3th Annual Kraft Karnival on Saturday, September 8 from l0 to 3 p.m. (I peeked at the list and saw many cute craft ideas for everyone to make. They include a glass wind chime, sledding bears - even though we don't want to think about snow right yet, a suncatcher, birdhouse candle, a cute candy container and many more.) Purchase your tickets in advance and save. Everything in the store will be l0% off retail and the classes are l0% off if you pre-register and pre-pay. I'll keep you posted on the regular classes.

Let me know what fun events you have for fall - crafts and fun traditions. Write to me at

Enjoy your Labor Day holiday (and the first day of school... should be fun for all Moms and students alike).
