County Museum has Holiday Open House

Wayne County Historical Society Museum will hold its Holiday Open House on Sunday, December 2, from noon-5 p.m. at the County Museum on Butternut St. in Lyons.

Lyons Junior/Senior High students will entertain guests with holiday music while docents conduct guided tours throughout the former sheriff's home and attached jail. Sue Jordan will give a spinning demonstration in the Spinning and Weaving Room and Sharon Lubitow will teach tile stamping.

First Sgt. Donald Martens and Cpl. Chris McLellan of the 137th NY Volunteer Regiment of the U.S. Volunteer Union Army, will answer questions in the Civil War Room.

The Museum will be decorated for the holidays. Refreshments, donated by the WCHS Board of Directors and Zappia Vending Service, Inc., will be served to the guests.

At the end of the day, the sealed bids for the two-hole outhouse will be opened. This unique structure was made with a pressure-treated lumber base, hemlock siding and a cedar shingle roof and has been on exhibit this fall.

To place a bid, contact the Society at 946.4943 or stop by the office Tuesday-Friday, 10-4.
