Book review luncheon in Newark

The Friends of the Newark Public Library will hold their next luncheon meeting on Friday, December 14 at noon at the library on High Street. Dr. Fred Hicks will be the guest speaker.

A timely topic, Dr. Hicks will review The Battle for Christmas by Stephen Niffenbaum. A Pulitzer Prize finalist, Niffenbaum wrote this book as a light history of the why and how we celebrate Christmas, dating back to the time of the Puritans.

It would be appreciated if reservations for the $4 luncheon were made by Tuesday. This may be done by calling the Newark Library at 331.4370.
