Happenings Be sure to come downtown tomorrow, December 8, to celebrate Christmas in Marion. The Merchants Association has planned events from 9 to 3. Breakfast with Santa at MaryEllen's Cafe, 9-11 and Sheriff Explorer's Post spaghetti dinner at the Cafe, 3-6 p.m. Tickets available at the restaurant. A Siberian Husky dog sled team will give a demo at 10 and again at 2 at the Town Park. Dog sled rides will be available. A Christmas concert is planned at the United Church, from 11:15 to 3, different 'acts' at various times. The Show Choir is planning to sing. Open house this evening (Dec. 7) from 7 to 9 at Scarlet Thread Student Center in Sodus. This is your opportunity to meet the staff and board and give them an opportunity to meet you. The senior high winter concert, grades 9-12 bands and chorus, will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the High School on December 17. The community Christmas committee will be collecting donations at the concert. December 11, 1947: According to a law passed by the State Legislature this year, anyone over the age of 70 who applied, could obtain a free fishing license. With all the untimely warm weather we've been having, trees and bushes are putting forth shoots and some even blossoms. Pastor Don and Judy White and girls had as house guests last weekend, Judy's Parents, Tom and Joanne Porter from Philadelphia. The Canaltown Chorale will hold its Christmas Concert at 7 p.m. on December 8 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Newark and 4 o'clock on December 9 at the Methodist Church in Palmyra. At Marion Fire Hall, December 11 - noon Lunch; 1 p.m. entertainment by the Marion High School Show Choir. All Senior Citizens are invited. The day was sunny and bright, with not a flake of snow in sight, but the holiday open house at the Marion Museum was visited many who wanted to celebrate the season. Guests enjoyed of bread puddings, chocolate and walnut with hard sauce or raisin with sweet milk. St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marion has completed the exterior of the addition on the rear of their house of worship, on Union Street.
