Missing Sodus
By Melissa White

Gosh, this time of year can be so busy, can't it? Hurrying to get the Christmas shopping done, wrapping, and cards written. (I think the secret is to take it as it comes.) There are a lot of fun things for the whole family to do in Wayne County, so try to take time to enjoy yourselves. (It's ok if the package doesn't look perfect.)

The holiday decorating contest is in full swing in Sodus. I hear there've been several nominations already. And, if you're out a nice drive and happen to spot one you think worthy, call 483.7256 to nominate a home or business by 5 p.m. December 19. The Chamber of Commerce will have judging on December 20.

One of the businesses already nominated is the Heluva Good Cheese Country store on Barclay Rd. The store has a variety of Country Gifts, special occasion gift baskets, unique cheese and cheese products. Check out there web site www.heluvagood.com for more ideas.

Christmas tree Tomorrow is the Annual Apple Blossom Craft Sale at Williamson High, beginning at 9 a.m. Santa will be there from 11 to 2. If you enjoy the Apple Blossom Festival, then please show your support at this fundraiser. It's open until 4 p.m.

If you live in Sodus, and are heading to the Williamson Craft Show, get up a little early and stop by the Sodus United Methodist Church to have Breakfast with Santa. They'll be serving from 8 to 10 a.m. Breakfast is sponsored by the Sodus Lioness Club.

Then Sunday, Santa arrives in Sodus Point for the tree-lighting at 4 p.m.

The Williamson Library has some fun things planned. On Wednesday, December 12 at 7 p.m., it's BOOK BINGO! Children up to 15 years of age are invited to the library to play BINGO! Win new books, to keep or give as gifts and enjoy many wonderful holiday refreshments all for free! No registration is required. (Children ages 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult.) Also... A special Lap-Sit Christmas Storytime will be held on Monday, December 17 at 10:30 a.m. for children ages 18 months up to 3. Registration is necessary.

If you have fun gift ideas, events or craft ideas please write to me at

I look forward to hearing from you.

Have a great week and remember to stop by the libraries to get some holiday books for yourself and the kids.
