Lyons council names Volunteers of the Year

The Inter-Church Council of Lyons has selected Tom and Judy Brancato as Volunteers of the Year 2001.

The award was presented by the Rev. William Barrett on behalf of the Council at the annual Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service at Grace Episcopal Church.

The award honors and celebrates people who give time in service to the Lyons community by helping in one of the many ecumenical ministries sponsored by the Lyons Inter-Church Council. The Brancatos volunteer weekly at the Lyons Lunch Program.

Father Barrett, who is their priest from St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, said: 'Tom and Judy exemplify the spirit of giving. They are living out their faith by helping the needy. They are doing what Christ commanded of us.'

The Brancatos also deliver Meals on Wheels.
