NYSEG will be checking lines

Next Monday and Tuesday, December 17 and 18 (weather permitting), you may notice a helicopter flying low in Seneca, Yates, Ontario and Wayne counties.

'The folks in the helicopter will be doing a routine inspection of NYSEG'S high-voltage power lines,' said Mike Williams, NYSEG's community outreach and development manager in Geneva. NYSEG's thousands of miles of high-voltage power lines are inspected regularly from the air and the ground.

'High-voltage power lines are the backbone of our electricity delivery system,' Williams said. 'If an unexpected problem should occur on these power lines, thousands of customers could be affected. Our goal is to spot potential problems and correct them before they affect our customers.'
