Missing Sodus
By Melissa White

Did you see the snowfall Saturday night? I must admit it was pretty. The Season quickly came upon us, the kids are excited about vacation coming while their parents are panicking about how many things need to be done yet.

Congratulations to John Castle for receiving the United States National Award in Leadership and Service by the United States Achievement Academy. Karen and Richard are proud parents (as they should be. Good job, John.)

Mark your calendar for breakfast with an important person. Tomorrow (Saturday, Dec. 15), you can have breakfast with Santa at the Williamson United Methodist Church on E. Main Street from 8:30 to ll a.m. After breakfast, the children can shop at Santa's Secret Workshop.

There will be a Children's Christmas Bazaar at the First United Presbyterian Church on Main Street in Sodus, from l0 to 2.

And there's a Blood Drive at the Third United Methodist Church, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Don't forget that on Sunday, the Holiday Fireworks will light up the sky at the Wallington Fire Department on Ridge Rd. in Sodus at 6 p.m.

A busy schedule for the Williamson Library:

A special Lap-Sit Christmas Storytime will be held on Monday, December 17 at 10:30 a.m. for children ages 18 months up to 3. Registration is necessary (589.2048). On Wednesday, December 19 at 10:30, a special Pre-School Storytime will be held for children ages 3 - 5 years. No registration is required. It will be 30 minutes of great holiday stories, puppets, songs, games and fun at the Williamson Public Library.

Next weekend, Sodus Point will have carols and light on Saturday night. The Sodus Point Community Association and the Methodist Church have planned to provide luminarias to all local residents to help 'Light up the Point.' To get yours, call Doris Burger at 483.6780 or Kathy Plantz at 483.8083. Carolers should meet at the church at 6:15.

Still looking for that perfect tree? Have you tried Carl's Christmas Tree Farm? Carl's is on Route 88, south of Sodus (just north of Newark). Or there's Alexander's Christmas Tree Farm on 2269 Trimble Rd. in Ontario. (Trimble Rd. is off Furnace Rd.) What about Urtz's Evergreen Christmas Tree in Palmyra? Along with your beautiful tree, you can have free refreshments and have your tree wrapped for the trip home. All are invited to come in and warm up by the fire.
