Christmas meal in Newark

Again this year, Together in Christ of Newark, invites everyone to the Community Shared Christmas Dinner on Tuesday, December 25 at 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 301 South Main Street, Newark. This is a wheelchair accessible facility.

Don't spend Christmas alone. Christmas can often be a lonely and depressing time. There are many reasons for sharing your holiday with others - the loss of a loved one, relatives may live a long distance away, you may be new to the community, or the weather may have simply changed your plans. And some have no means of preparing a meal because they live in a room with no kitchen facilities. For some, it is a time that they want to share with others in a caring, giving way.

This dinner meets the needs of many people and the rewards are immeasurable. Meals are delivered to shut-ins and transportation is provided in Newark and Arcadia for those who do not have transportation or are unable to walk the distance.

Everyone receives a gift donated by the community, and a poinsettia, provided by a local florist.

This is the 29th year that Newark has held a Christmas Dinner on Christmas Day. People hope to fill the void in people's lives - whatever the need, especially fellowship, love, caring and sharing.

If transportation is needed in the Newark area, call Paul Murphy, 331.3255 by December 23;

for meal delivery, call Mr. and Mrs. Mann, 331.7319.

Cash donations can be sent to Shared Christmas Dinner - Charter One Savings Bank, Newark.

Help is needed at 9 a.m. on Christmas Day to set up and prepare the meal, serve and assist in clean up, but most important, to provide fellowship to those who are need.
