Congratulations to Tom and Sue Ellen Hawn on the birth of Cora Dee at Strong Memorial Hospital on December 9. Cora weighed 7 lbs., 12 oz. She was welcomed home by her brother, Anthony.

Jack Viet is home from a hospital stay.

Where can I get some Jasmine Tea?

The Christmas Eve candlelight service, at the Second Reformed Church will be held at 7 p.m. Rev. Don Stock will be in charge.

Bill and Barb DeWandel opened their home for a family Christmas gathering on December 15. young and old enjoyed an afternoon of fun, food and presents.

Gordon and I arranged a dinner for the Adriaansen brothers and sisters and their spouses at Miceli's on Tuesday, December 11. After dinner they gathered at Maple Ave. for conversation and dessert of chocolate bread pudding, a favorite recipe of their mother's.

December 27, 1934: Under the direction of Jack Westfall, comedy, 'Chief Standing Funny' was presented in the school chapel. Frederick Sanford, Howard Hance, Arthur Short, George Shoales, Roger Radley, Norris Dean, Robert Witter, James White Robert Cattieu, David Crum and Gerald Bushart, appeared in the show.

Marion Legion is sponsoring a blood drive on December 28.

Happy Birthday wishes to Florence Johnson on December 23.

Stan and Isabelle Bushart visited their son Kevin and family in Odessa, Texas over Thanksgiving week. While there, they spent one morning at the presidential museum in Midland which features porcelain dolls of all the presidents' wives in their inaugural gowns. There were other exhibits and pictures giving much of the history of our country and information about all the presidents.

They were surprised one morning to wake up to eight inches of snow! The children got a day off from school as well as a two-hour delay the second day. The weather warmed up quickly and, by the third day, it was nearly gone, although the streets were filled with water. The day of the big snow, Kim Bushart's mother flew in from her home in Carterton, England to spend six weeks with the family. Stan and Isabelle had a good visit, and no problems with flights.

Freshman Wendy Brusso, Marion, Marion High School was a member of the Hilbert College women's soccer team this past fall. Brusso saw action in three games in goal for the Lady Hawks, posting a 2-1 record with a pair of shut-outs. She also saw time as a midfielder, scoring one goal and assisting on two others in nine games. Hilbert completed the season with a 12-4 record.

Shawn Cummings represents Marion at the NYSSMA High Area All-State Festival. A junior, he plays percussion and was chosen for this honor after participating in a recent NYSSMA Solo Festival. He is a member of the Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band. He also participates in athletics and is a student representative to the board of education.
