Those attending the community Christmas program at the Marion High School on December 17 were treated to music by talented Marion students. The closing selection, planned by Mr. Thompson, called for all those in the audience to participate in a delightful rendition of The 12 days of Christmas in celebration of the holiday season.

Marie Leno is residing at the Newark Manor.

Evelyn Magde is home, following a hospital stay.

The ministry of music at the Second Reformed Church on December 23 was presented by Kyle Haak, who offered Jesus was Born on this Day. The handbell Christmas choir also performed their beautiful Christmas songs. This choir is under the direction of Janette Nevlezer and includes Christina Bliek, Karen Devlin, Phyllis Bliek, Rachel Boerman, Lynette Mackey, Cathy Thomas, Rebecca Boerman, Heather Mackey, Sarah Mackey, Adam Boerman, Jennifer Goodwin and Beth Boerman. Amy Thomas took part in the offertory with her flute selection: What Child is This?

Gerald Ellsworth, of Albany, spent the long Christmas holiday with his mother, Eunice Ellsworth of Sunset Drive.

December 21, 1917: The Wayne county canning factory closed on Friday. The company made its women employees, numbering about 40, a present of five pounds of sugar each, which is quite a gift in these 'sugarless' days.

Some Polish-Americans have a wonderful New Year's custom ... Before the stroke of midnight, a coin is placed on every window ledge and above every doorway in the house. As the New Year enters the home through the windows and doors, it carries along blessings of prosperity in the year to come.

Lillian Cherrier spent Christmas day with her daughter and son in-law, Nick and Beverly DiSanto, in Lyons.
