With not knowing much about football and even which teams were playing, I did quite well in the pool!

In honor of Jake's 80th birthday on Jan. 27, his daughter, Rev. Norm and Nancy Tellier of Albany, spent the weekend with their parents, Jake and Jennie Hubright of Williamson.

Happy Birthday Wishes to Peg Pembroke on January 29, from her family and many friends.

Karl DePoint received his Masters Degree in Elementary Education from SUNY at Brockport.

Isabelle Bushart is confined to her home following a fall which resulted in a broken ankle.

Let's remember all the shut-ins during these long winter months. A visit or phone call may brighten someone's day!

Due to a necessary move, the February 14 opening at the Marion Museum has been canceled.

Sunday was 'Souper' Bowl Sunday, at the United Church, in Marion. To share God's love with those less fortunate those at the morning worship service donated to the Souper Bowl of Caring. Everything collected will be shared with the Marion Food Pantry and the Williamson Come-Unity Center in Williamson. Last year 11,211 churches raised 3.1 million dollars to feed the hungry.

The Youth Group, at the United Church is sponsoring an all-you-can eat pasta dinner on Saturday, February 10, 4:30-6:30. Proceeds will go to the Margaret Curtis Living Scholarship Fund, dedicated to subsidizing youth events.

Doug and Jeanette Wessie spent the weekend with their daughter, Franz and Judy Kopf of Eldred. They traveled down to see their new granddaughter, Morgan Elizabeth, born at the Horton Medical Center in Middletown, NY. Morgan arrived on January 26, weighing 7 lbs. and 7 oz., and measuring 21 inches.

The February Roast Beef Supper, at the Marion American Legion Home will be held February 9. This home-style dinner is delicious and proceeds go to further programs for the youth in Marion.

The 55 Alive Driver Course may be held at the United Church this spring. If you are interested, please let the church office know at 926.5501.

JANUARY 31, 1914: Ross Bush of Coudersport, Pa. was in town last week looking over the field with a view of establishing a National Bank.

The JV boys basketball team won a blow-out game at North Rose-Wolcott last Friday with a score of 80-44. Double-digit Marion players were: Eli Voorhees 10, Ryan Weser 13, and Kyle Elvin 18.

The girls varsity team fell to Sodus with 52-44. Scorers were Katie Pentland 8, Lisa Colling 10, Elizabeth Boerman 14, Jennifer Devlin 5, Stephanie Graham 5 Christina Green 2.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Talent Show. Brian Maynard, Mike Levis and Peter Stevens won first place, Ian Van Norman captured second, and third-place went to Amber Taber, Nicole Rickner, Ashley Rieflyn.

The two spelling bee winners are Melissa Cummings and Elizabeth Snyder who will advance to Regionals!
