Well, I'm back from Disney World (and missing the warmth of Florida). We stayed at a nice Hotel called the Grosvenor and, from our room on the l8th floor, we had a spectacular view of the park. (The only thing is, Disney is so large, you only see a small part of it from the hotel.)

The people who worked there were nice and very accommodating.

tree of life at disneyBeth Bacon and her family went down in the past and she was a big help. She's planning on going back again soon. Disney is such a big place, you need to ask people about their trips and read as many books as you can about the parks. We spent a lot of time walking in each park and learned a lot in each one.

The Tree of Life is an amazing work of art - the trunk is all carved animals.

dale It was quite an experience going from winter here to the warm breezes of the 70's in Florida. (Funny - everyone there apologized for the cold temperatures. Chilly?! They should come up here for a week!)

We had dinner with the Hooper family and Eileen's mom, Betty. (That's Susie Hooper sporting the bandana. And that's Rachel with Pooh.)

winnie the pooh It was really nice to see them all again and they had many stories to share. Eileen's brother is down there visiting this week (and I'm sure enjoying the warmer temperature, even if it is in the 50's).

Do your children play baseball? Sodus Little League registration will be tomorrow at the Church of the Epiphany from 9 a.m. to noon. The kids will be out playing baseball before we know it.

If pancakes sound good for breakfast, on Sunday, February ll from 8 to ll a.m., there will be a Pancake Breakfast at the Wallington Fire Hall on Ridge Road.

And if you're closer to Williamson Sunday morning, there will also be a Pancake Breakfast at the Williamson Fire Hall from 8 to noon.

(Save the date for another in Wallington: Sunday, March ll.)

Congratulations to Zachary Deridder for becoming an Eagle Scout. Zachary, a member of Sodus Boy Scout Troop 111, is the son of Peter and Michelle Deridder.

Need a fast and fun dessert idea? Use sugar-free Jello (any flavor); Whipped cream (lite or fat free); a cup of hot water and an 8 oz. container of yogurt (low calorie).

Boil the water and add it to the Jello you've chosen. Stir until dissolved, then stir in the yogurt; add the Whipped Cream and pour into dessert cups. Refrigerate and enjoy. (I got the idea from a girl at a Weight Watchers meeting I attended.)

I received a note from Joe VanHaelst of Newark, who is in Florida, and he said the temperatures are supposed to be in the 70's this week. Last week, they had a group from the Family Motor Coach, the Pennymixers, in their park for a pot luck supper. 35 members were from New York. They have had several friends from Macedon come down for a visit and are expecting more next week. Joe and Ellie have also been out to dinner with camping friends from New York. (We don't acutally see many people from New York in New York this time of year.)

cinderella's castle Happy birthdays to Lorrie Zone whose birthday is February l0; and Tom White, whose birthday will be on the l3th. If you have a birthday or special event you'd like to share, please write to me at

Have a great week and stay warm. (So what if the Groundhog says there are 6 more weeks of winter? Look how far we've come! )
