Free concert tonight in Lyons
The Center and the First Presbyterian Church are sponsoring the appearance by the Rochester group through a NYS Decentralization Grant from the Wayne County Arts Council. The concert is open to the public. People from the Presbyterian Church wrote the grant. The Rev. Cynthia Huling Hummel, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, said the group plays a mix of Motown, jazz, soul and rhythm and blues. The concert is part of the celebration of Black History Month. Midnight Blue has been playing in the Rochester area since 1983, and is known for the sound that fuses rhythm and blues with jazz. Their style has been compared to that of the Temptations.
