Newark church's Souper Bowl plans

Park Presbyterian Church in Newark will be one of thousands of congregations taking part in the Souper Bowl of Caring on January 28. Led by the young people of the church, parishioners will be invited to give one dollar each, on the way out of worship service.

Every dollar donated will be sent to the Newark Food Closet.

The Souper Bowl began in a single South Carolina church youth group.

Last year, 11,200 congregations together gave $3.1 million to charities. In 2001, up to 15,000 congregations are expected to participate.
