Newark High School searched for drugs

The halls and lockers of Newark High School were searched for drugs on Friday morning. At the close of business, no arrests were reported, but a 15-year-old and 16-year-old had been interviewed at the police station.

Captain Roger VanDemortel at the Newark Police Dept. said Investigator Gary VerStraete was in charge of the drug-search operation. This one-hour search included Newark and Lyons Police officers, Sheriff deputies and two of their K-9 dogs, the dog from Lyons P.D. and a drug-sniffing dog from Brighton.
