Wayne County sponsors photo contest

Wayne County Office of Tourism is holding a photo contest to celebrate National Tourism Week, May 6-12, 2001. The contest is open to all school age children living in Wayne County. There will be two (2) grade categories K-6 and 7-12. Home school children are also eligible to enter this contest that will be the center of the Wayne County National Tourism Week celebration. Photo submission deadline is May 1, 2001.

The theme for the contest is 'Discover the Treasures of Wayne County' as seen through the eye of a tourist. The subject categories are historical sites, scenic landscapes, the Erie Canal, events and agriculture as related to tourism.

Eligible photos must be taken between January 1, 2000 and April 15, 2001. Photos entered in the Wayne County History Jamboree will also be eligible to be entered into the Wayne County Tourism contest. The photos will be displayed at the Erie Canal Cultural Center from May 6 -31 and will then be displayed throughout the county. Judging and prize awards will be held on May 6 at the Erie Canal Cultural Center.
