Happenings The Model UN team was successful on January 5-6 at the Central New York Model UN Conference. Many students spoke on political, economic and social issues. The delegation from Cape Verde was also able to write and pass a resolution pertaining to Human Rights. Attendees were: Molly Angie, Elizabeth Boerman, Roy Franks, John Gordon, Allison Hosier, Erin Howard, Chantel Lawless, Alina Nadir, Carl O'Connor, Carrie Phillips and Emily Tuma. Congratulations to Jeff and Sandy Dick on the birth of a daughter, Erika Madison on January 7. She weighed 8 lbs. 11 oz. at birth. Proud grandparents are Conrad and Mimi Richards of Dormedy Hill Rd. 'My house was clean last week. Sorry you missed it.' Vern Leenhouts is home following a hospital stay. Believe it or not, it will soon be June and time for the Marion Legion Baseball team to hit the field. I am collecting recipes for For Lunch or Brunch II. If you would like me to include your favorites, drop them off in the news basket. January 19, 7-8:30 p.m. - Family Roller Skating Party, sponsored by the Marion PTA in the Elementary School gym. All children must be accompanied by an adult. January 22: Marion PTA meeting 3:45 in the Elementary School cafeteria. Zap-a-Snack sale begins. Board of Education Meeting is Monday at 7 p.m. in the High School library. Gertrude Collier returned from the hospital. The Women's Guild held their monthly meeting and luncheon at Carry White's home on Jan. 16 at noon. All women of the church were invited to attend. JANUARY 20, 1917: The Fire Commissioners have purchased the lot on the corner of Main and Buffalo Streets now occupied by the small, frame building owned by M. J. Merson. A fine two story building for housing the fire apparatus will be erected in the spring.
