Things have been quiet again this week in Sodus and Wayne County. I will be going on vacation the end of next week, so if you have something you'd like to share for the column, please let me know early in the week. Ralph Everdyke says the weather is finally warming up in Florida. He and his wife took a drive to Tampa Electric Big Bend Station the other day. The Station has a viewing area set up where you can see the Manatees in the water. The water is warm there now because of the station's discharged water. Ralph and his wife go down about once every season and see five or six, but this time, there was around 25 or 30 of them swimming around the channel. The water has probably been chilly (like the weather) and they welcome the warmth just like we do. What a fun and exciting experience! It's Cabaret Night at Sodus High tomorrow night. The music begins in the gym at 8 p.m. Call to reserve your ticket at 483.2331, extension 7127. And the Sodus Elementary kids are raising money for a trip to Washington DC by selling submarine sandwiches for Super Bowl Sunday. You can order yours by calling 483.8628 or 483.4505 or e-mail sodusbay@rochester.rr.com Then all you have to do is pick up your sub on Sunday, January 28 between noon and 4 p.m. in the foyer of the Sodus Primary School. The sandwiches are only $5 each, and you can pick turkey, ham, roast beef or veggie. What a deal! Alton Antique Center is closing its doors. They'll be selling out until January 31, so go check it out. St. John's Episcopal Church on West Main St. in Sodus is celebrating its 175th anniversary this year. Events will include February 8 with a pot luck dinner. Watch for more details. Please write to me at I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
