Seeking Soup in Lyons

Nothing's better on a cold wintry day than a bowl of hot soup. In Lyons, two programs provide the comfort of soup to hungry people: the Lyons Lunch Program (or Soup Kitchen) and the Food Cupboard, which supplies food as part of its emergency food packages. To help these programs meet the need for food in our community, the second annual 'Food that Warms the Heart' campaign will take place January 28 to February 14.

The campaign seeks donations of canned soup from everyone in the community. Distinctive red collection boxes will be located throughout the village, at churches, in schools and in public places. The goal for this year is to collect more than the 1526 cans donated last year.

For people who find it easier to give money than to carry around cans of soup, funds may be directed to FTWTH, Presbyterian Church of Lyons, 11 Queen Street, Lyons NY 14489.
