Drawing for free spay/neuter

'Spay Day USA 2001, a Spay Odyssey' will be Feb. 27.

This is the national Doris Day Animal Foundation campaign to help reduce pet overpopulation. Hundreds of thousands of animals have been altered as a result of Spay Day USA since its inception in 1995.

The Humane Society of Wayne County is celebrating Spay Day USA with a drawing for free spay/neuter certificates. Last year, because of support from veterinarians and donations from individuals, more than 50 pets had their names drawn for free spay/neuters. This year, the goal is to offer even more free spay/neuter certificates. There is nothing to buy and there is no entry fee.

Just send the following information to the shelter: name, address, phone number of owner; the age, sex and breed of pet; and choice of a Wayne County veterinarian. Drawing is limited to Wayne County residents and certificates may be redeemed at Wayne County veterinarians only. Entries must be received at the shelter by February 25.

A veterinarian or individual wishing to help the Humane Society may contact the shelter at 946.3389. Donations to spay/neuter a shelter animal awaiting adoption will also be accepted.

Entry forms are available at the shelter, 1475 County House Rd., Lyons. Call 946.3389 with questions.

Shelter hours are Weds. - Fri., 10-4:30 and weekends 10 until 4.
