Pete Revard has donated a small tray that has the picture of the First Methodist Episcopal Church and of Rev. Wilson, pastor at the time. This church was at the corner of Main and Evergreen Streets. It was organized in 1845 with 12 charter members. The building was erected in 1855. This church discontinued services in 1919.

Since Sunday is 'Souper' Bowl Sunday, I know my favorite granddaughter will mention she'd like Mom's Celery Soup. Here goes!

  • Rinse one bunch of celery. Cut through the total bunch, thus having graduated size pieces of celery and leaves.
  • Simmer celery and leaves in one quart of water and 6 chicken bouillon cubes for 15 minutes.
  • Make roux with one stick margarine and one cup flour.
  • Add slowly, two quarts 2% milk, stirring until smooth with a whisk. Add cooked celery and broth and one teaspoon celery seed. Add two cups shredded cheddar cheese. Salt and pepper to taste.
  • Perfect for a crock pot on Super (souper) Bowl Sunday.

To enlarge recipe add another quart of milk, and for a thicker soup, add 1/4 cup or more of dried potato flakes.

JANUARY 24, 1935: Electricity has been put in the homes of Raymond Skinner, Mrs. Mary Deyo and several other homes on the same road. It is expected that the current will be turned on this week.
