Happenings By Carolyn Adriaansen (926.4436) Congratulations to William Bliek who made the Dean's List at St. Bonaventure University. The recent grad, a finance major, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. LaVerne Bliek. One parent of a 12-year-old baseball player, sends thanks to all the coaches who have volunteered for the Marion Recreation Baseball teams. 'My son has been playing baseball since he was eight, I have never seen such great coaches. A lot of time, patience and devotion goes into coaching. A special thanks to Coach Mark Jackson. He gives 110% to his team and to the parents of the players. THANKS AGAIN TO ALL THE BASEBALL COACHES.' Todd and Kim Bridge brought their children, Mykenna Marie, born January 3, 1999 and Kaylee Lynn born February 1, 2001 for baptism at the United Church on July 8. Matthew Bridge and Karen O'Leary are Mykenna's godparents; Kaylee's godparents are Donald Smith and Jennifer Crawley. JULY 13, 1912: The corner lot owned by Robert Murphy has been sold to Father Hartley of Palmyra for a site for a Catholic church to be built in this town. This is the same lot on which Mr. Murphy proposed to build a hitching barn this spring, before he purchased the Brewster property on Buffalo St. on which he is now building. The Marion Legion Cook Book second issue, is now available, $2 each. Call 926.4436 or 926.7707 to reserve your copy. Now that they are digging up the streets in Marion, I am wondering when they will work on the drains on Union Street. Stuart and Joan Bornstein spent time with their mother, Mil Leenhouts, traveling from their home in Tappan. I have lots of Mock Osage Orange and Catalpa trees growing on the patio if anyone is interested in starting a forest! 'If you smile when no one else is around, you really mean it.'
