Pioneer Gas Engine Show in Marion

The final planning is underway for The Thirty-Seventh Annual Pioneer Gas Engine Association's Show. The show will be held at The Marion Town Park, on North Main St., just off Route 21. The show dates will be Friday, July 27 through Sunday, July 29.

learn more This year's activities will include a Flea Market, a blacksmith, and stone crushing, in addition to the exhibits of antique tractors, gas engines, and steam engines. There will be a children's pedal tractor pull, that will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m., with prizes for all participants, followed by the Antique Tractor and moveable equipment Parade through the Town of Marion at 1 p.m.

The Antique tractor pulls, for 1956 and older tractors will be on Friday night starting at 6 p.m., and on Saturday at 5 p.rn.

In addition to the traditional-tractor pulls, there will be a 'special' pull on Sunday, starting at 11 a.m. This will be a pay-per-pull event, at $10 per hook, and a tractor can pull as many times, as they purchase. There is a prize only for the 1st placed tractor in each tractor class. Tractors for this pull only will not need to be on display all weekend. (For the Sunday pull only. For Friday and Saturday's pull tractors need to be on display all weekend.)

The entire weekend will be packed with Antique Tractors, Gas Engines, Allied Equipment of yesteryear, and many other items beautifully restored.

There will be refreshments for sale, courtesy of Pioneer Gas Engine Association, and Marion Fire Department Exporers. Also for Saturday there will be a DJ provided by Dan Gardner, of Marion. There will also be a Flea Market with many unique items ranging from antiques to crafts.

Raffle tickets will be sold all weekend; one for a 50/50 drawing and another for a $100 gift certificate to Wegamans.

Admission for the Show is $2, or a current 2001 membership. Children under 12 years, old will be admitted free.
