Cookbook benefits Marion baseball

Volume 2 of the Marion Legion Baseball Cookbook is on sale now for $2. The collection of 50-plus recipes can be ordered by calling Carolyn at 926.4436 or Sue at 926.7707. Proceeds benefit the Marion Legion Baseball program by helping with the cost of umpires. American Legion Baseball is a national program for kids age 13 to 18. The Marion team is coached by Paul Devlin.

You'll find among the recipes, many family favorites such as:

Banana Split Salad

Popcorn & Apple Pie

Strawberry Bread, and

Root Beer Float Cake.

Here's one you can use with your coming tomato crop. It could be a wonderful appetizer for 8, or a nice summer side dish for 6.

Tomato Pie One 9-inch pre-baked deep dish pie shell 4 tomatoes 8-10 fresh basil leaves 1/3 cup chopped green onion salt & pepper to taste 2 cups grated mozzarella and cheddar cheeses (combined) 1 cup mayonnaise Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Layer tomato slices, basil, and onion in pie shell. Add salt and pepper to taste. Mix together cheeses and mayonnaise. Spread on top of tomato layer. Bake for 30 minutes or until lightly browned.
