Wegmans will accept Tax Relief Checks Wegmans is accepting the Federal Government Tax Relief Checks. Jack DePeters, executive vice president of store operations, said this exception to the company's policy of not cashing tax refund checks is for the convenience of shoppers. 'We realize that many of our regular shoppers will receive such checks in a short period of time, and that the denominations will typically be small enough for us to handle with ease. We have instructed our managers to cash the checks, applying our normal policies, for any customer who is signed up for payroll check cashing service and who presents a permanent Shoppers Club Card and photo driver's license.' A service fee of $1.00 is applied, as is the policy for cashing payroll/government checks. If the check is made out to two people in a household, both signatures are required.
